Payava Hotel by True Blue

Payava Hotel by True Blue is a bed and breakfast hotel on Cumhuriyet Caddesi in Kalkan. Sources say breakfast is an open buffet, a pleasant touch if you like to start the day at your own pace.

It is not beachfront. Guests use the Blue Flag Kalamar Beach Club, which has an agreement with the hotel and lies about 900 metres away. Kalkan's public beach is about 1.7 km away. So on beach days you will need a short travel plan.

The hotel accepts children. As Kalkan also has adults-only and age-restricted hotels, that matters for families.

Why did we include it? Payava is a handy base for guests who want to centre their stay on Kalkan and split their days between bays, beach clubs and trips around the area. It strikes a balance between the beach club at Kalamar Bay and the town's evening life.

What to accept before booking:

1. A walk or short drive to the beach club becomes part of each day. 2. Bed and breakfast means other meals are taken elsewhere. 3. There is no way to step straight into the sea from the hotel.

It is not for guests who want to walk from their room into the sea, or families expecting all-inclusive.

Kalkan Beach & Hotel sits right on the beach with its own beach and pier, the more practical pick if sea access is your top priority. Likya Bay Hotel also relies on an arranged beach club, but it is a 5 to 10-minute walk away, and outside July and August the hotel is adults-only.

Sources put Dalaman Airport at 120 to 123 km, a drive of 105 to 120 minutes.

In Kalkan the sea is at its best for swimming from June to September. Late May and September bring the easiest temperatures for going between town and bay; in August, save the walks for morning or late afternoon.
